Friends of the Hooch, Inc.
Our Mission
The mission of the Friends of the Hooch, Inc. is to:
“Promote the virtues of sportsmanship, teamwork, inclusion, and personal responsibility by delivering a world class competitive rowing event, the Head of the Hooch® regatta, supported by volunteers from local rowing clubs and the community we serve.”
Our Purpose
The Friends of the Hooch, Inc. was incorporated as a charitable non-profit in the state of Tennessee on April 1, 2021 in order to facilitate the continued success of the Head of the Hooch regatta. The purpose of the organization is to:
“Foster, support, conduct, and promote local, regional, national, and/or international athletic competition in the sport of rowing by running the nationally recognized Head of the Hooch® regatta for high school, college, adult, and elite athletes including para and inclusive para athletes with physical or intellectual impairments.”
Our Leadership
Each year, the regatta is delivered by the efforts of a 100% volunteer-based organization. Through the Head of the Hooch regatta, participants will experience the value of sportsmanship, teamwork, inclusion, and personal responsibility. Volunteers who have benefitted from the sport of rowing will have the opportunity to give back to the rowing community, which will grow in strength resulting from the financial support generated by efforts of the Friends of the Hooch, Inc. and the dedicated corps of volunteers who make the Head of the Hooch® regatta possible year after year.
In order to facilitate growth and success for the Head of the Hooch regatta each year, the Friends of the Hooch, Inc. is organized with a Board of Directors and an Organizing Committee.
Board of Directors
The Board of Directors consists of rowers from the Atlanta Rowing Club and Lookout Rowing Club as well as non-rowing directors from the local community and is charged with guiding the organization to remain a keystone of Chattanooga’s outdoor events and to continue to be nationally recognized as the nation’s friendliest fall regatta.
Organizing Committee
The Organizing Committee is responsible for executing the regatta each year and is composed of volunteer members from the Atlanta Rowing Club and Lookout Rowing Club.
